What’s covered and for how long
Custom Aluminium Canopies: 10 years on the aluminium frame and fixed roof components against defects in materials and workmanship.
Carports: 5 years on the aluminium frame and fixed roof components against defects in materials and workmanship.
Outdoor Blinds: 5 years on aluminium frame, guides, brackets and hardware; 2 years on fabric and stitching for cracking, seam failure, or premature tearing under normal use.
Notes on finishes: Normal UV fading or colour change of powder coating is not a defect. However, if powder coating peels, blisters, flakes, or corrodes under the film in normal conditions, that is treated as a defect and is covered during the relevant period.
What’s not covered
This warranty does not apply to damage caused by:
Natural disasters or extreme weather events, including storms, hurricanes/cyclones, tornadoes, earthquakes, and floods.
Accidents, misuse, or neglect, such as overloading frames, standing on roof sheets, or leaving blinds down in strong winds.
Improper installation or modification not carried out by Living Space or our approved installer (including drilling/cutting after install and non-approved parts).
Normal wear and tear, including fading or colour change in powder coating over time, fabric creasing, and minor cosmetic marks within industry tolerances.
External factors such as fire, vandalism, or impact, as well as chemical exposure (e.g., salt spray, pool chemicals, fertilisers, cement dust, industrial fallout) where recommended care is not followed.
Third-party or trade damage occurring after our installation (e.g., roofers, painters, scaffolders).
What “normal residential use” means
The product is installed by us or our approved installer.
You operate it in line with our guidance (for example, retracting blinds in strong winds and keeping gutters clear).
Routine cleaning and care are carried out (see care tips below).
The product remains at the original installation address in New Zealand.
Care & maintenance (helps your product last—and helps any claim)
Powder-coated aluminium (all products)
Rinse with fresh water monthly (coastal/industrial areas: fortnightly).
Wash with mild pH-neutral soap and a soft cloth/sponge. Avoid abrasives, acids/alkalis, citrus, bleach, and strong solvents.
Rinse well and dry to reduce water spotting.
Touch up chips or deep scratches promptly to protect the coating.
Canopies & Carports
Keep roof panels and gutters free of leaves and debris so water drains freely.
Do not walk or place loads on roof sheets.
After severe weather, visually check fixings and brackets. If anything looks loose or stressed, contact us.
Outdoor Blinds
Retract in strong winds and before storms.
Ensure fabric is dry before rolling up to prevent mildew and creasing.
Clean fabric with lukewarm soapy water; rinse thoroughly and air dry.
Lightly lubricate moving parts with a silicone-safe spray (avoid the fabric).
Regular care prevents early deterioration and supports any warranty assessment that the product was used as intended.
